Every day, a fleet of trucks leaves Rossmann's national logistics centre to supply stores across the country. Previously, roll containers were assigned to loading gates through manual checks alone. Each of the 30 warehouse gates is linked to a specific truck, and placing a roll container at the wrong gate means goods are delivered to the wrong store. This creates a double problem: one store receives too little stock while another receives too much.

LogiNet developed an Android-based warehouse application for Rossmann's existing Zebra device fleet. The Java backend manages container status information and tracks which truck is assigned to each loading gate. A web-based Vue dashboard provides managers with visibility into the loading process, while RFID sensors immediately detect when a roll container is moved to the wrong gate.

Standard mobile applications cannot fully utilise Zebra's industrial hardware capabilities, including integrated barcode scanners and direct connections to thermal printers. Since Rossmann's logistics infrastructure already relies on Zebra devices, LogiNet chose a Zebra-specific solution instead of a platform-independent mobile application. In practice, this allows warehouse workers to print delivery documents with a single button press and identify containers through barcode scanning at the loading gates.

During pilot operation, the number of incorrectly routed roll containers fell to approximately 10% of the original error rate. Managers can monitor loading activities in real time, returnable packaging can be tracked by store, and stores automatically receive notifications about outgoing shipments.
